Kimmy Hassel, a Bloomington-Normal native, was a 2009 graduate from Normal Community High School where she was a four year varsity basketball player and three year varsity softball player. Hassel also played 13 years in the BNGSA organization. Kimmy went on to attend The University of Saint Thomas (St Paul, MN) to play softball. The Tommies compiled a 160-30 (.842) record over her four years with 4 regular season conference championships and 4 conference playoff championships. She was a two time All American, a Capital One Academic All American, the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year as well as a 2x first team all-region member, 2x NFCA scholar-athlete and 2x first team all conference member. She had a .400 career batting average while batting .517 with runners in scoring position Kimmy graduated from Saint Thomas with Cum Laude honors in 2014 with a double major in secondary education and family and consumer sciences. She has coaching experience at the junior high, high school, college and travel level. She is currently an assistant coach for the Illinois Wesleyan University softball team and an assistant coach for the BNGSA Avanti’s Angels ‘05. She has been an instructor at K’s Training Academy since the end of 2016.
